Welcome in the name of the Risen Lord Jesus Christ. If you are visiting, we are glad that you are here and kindly ask that you sign our guest book at the sanctuary doors. If you would like to become a member please speak to the Pastor. In case of illness, the Pastor should be informed. He will always be glad to speak with those who are confronted with problems of a spiritual nature. The time before worship is a quiet time for prayer and meditation to prepare for worship. Please see the inside cover of the hymnal for prayers and page 329f to prepare for Holy Communion. Communicant members are asked to fill out a communion card found in the pew racks and place it in the offering plates.

Since the Lord’s Supper gives the forgiveness of sins in the body and blood of Christ to all who believe the words “given and shed” and is also a celebration of oneness in faith, we ask that only those who have professed such faith publicly in a Lutheran Church-Canada (or Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod) congregation come to the Lord’s Altar.  Everyone intending to commune for the first time is kindly asked to speak with the Pastor prior to the service.

FUNERAL – EUGENE MACKENZIE: Was this past Saturday at Grace. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mackenzie family during this time.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

WEDNESDAY WORSHIP & BIBLE STUDY:  at 9am.  Come and worship, study the Holy Scriptures, particularly the OT book of Isaiah, while enjoying a cup of coffee and tea.

 

SPECIAL VOTERS MEETING: today during dessert at the birthday lunch.  The process is to present the changes to the congregation at one meeting and then at a second meeting to vote on those changes. The plan is to present in September and vote in November. There will be no vote at this meeting on this topic.

 

FOOD PANTRY: We are in great need to restock our food pantry; community calls have come in for help. Please bring a non-perishable item for any meetings and birthday lunches.  Blessings, thank you.

 

SAINT VINCENT’S KITCHEN: if anyone would like to help with our team it's the 4th Saturday of every month.  You can Contact Charlie and Christine Farnell at 905-263-8497 or St. Vincent’s kitchen at 905-434-7543; ask for Valerie Moreton. People can come in the morning for prep, or in the afternoon for serving, busing or drying dishes.  Or to help close.  Morning times 9-12 Afternoon 2-5 Evening 5-7.

Perry Hart – Pastor at Bethel Lutheran Church, Kitchener, Ontario; This is the first time that a Canadian speaker is also being broadcast in the United States. Don't miss this very special message "Life is a precious gift". Guest speaker, Rev. Perry Hart warns against our culture's devaluation of life and calls us to see ourselves and others as precious people, created by God, redeemed by Christ.  Be sure to stay tuned to hear the musical offering by Pastor Perry's wife Tara Lyn Hart and their son Ashton, as well as an interview segment with the Harts regarding their personal insights on the precious gift of life.

LADIES OF GRACE: We will begin our missions with our new kits for Canadian Lutheran World Relief.   The following items are required for our Living and Learning Kits.  These are the new kits which is replacing the school kits that we made before but are now labelled Living and Learning Kits for Canadian Lutheran World Relief.  Any and all donations of the following items are greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance for supporting our Living and Learning Kits with your donation.  Workday October 2, 2018@9am

This is what is needed for each kit:

3 lined notebooks                                  10 unsharpened pencils with erasers

1 metric rules (30 Centimeters)             1 pencil sharpener

1 eraser                                                   1 pack of crayons (or pencil crayons)

1 small and simple toy (new and not requiring batteries)

1 bar of soap and 1 toothbrush (new and wrapped)

1 tube of medium size toothpaste (expiration date no earlier than one year)

 

HARVEST DAY-  at St. Catharines Seminary is being held on Oct. 20th. Guest speakers, presenters are Rev. Perry and Tara Hart. Registration is $3. and luncheon is $13 for a total of $16 per person. It starts at 8:45-9 am so we have to leave real early. Please let me know if you would like to come help support our Seminary and students. We have 16 students to meet this year.
